We are very proud to welcome you to the 2008 Hornblower Convention website, where you can find all the necessary details about the upcoming Hornblower convention. After much prodding by previous Captains, the West Coast fan contingent decided to gather a boarding party and take San Diego by storm.
The Hornblower Convention is a non-profit gathering of fans by fans of the A&E/Meridian Hornblower movies, created from the wonderful stories penned by CS Forester. Do you ever wonder what it was like to live in Georgian times? Do you wish you could sail the seas in a tallship? Do you ever feel the urge to chase the French and Spanish armadas to the far side of the world? This is your chance to spend a wonderful weekend with like minded people.
Besides viewing all nine Hornblower movies, we are planning visits to the San Diego Maritime Museum, home of the HMS Rose (aka HMS Surprise in the movie Master and Commander) and the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum, home of the USS Midway. The weekend would not be complete without a cruise around the Big Bay aboard one the Hornblower Cruise ships. Please note this is a change, unfortunately the Californian will be out of town the weekend of the convention.
Whether you prefer the polite conversation of the wardroom, the plottings and schemings of the hold or the slippery slide down to the bilge, join us for what promises to be the party of the year.

02/24/08 – Unfortunately the Californian will not be available the weekend of the convention. The sail on the Californian has been substituted with a harbor cruise aboard one of the Hornblower Cruise ships. With a name like that, how could we pass up the opportunity?!
