Area Attractions

There is something for everyone to see and do while visiting San Diego. To try to maintain an up-to-date list would be almost impossible. Here are just a few suggestions:

The world famous San Diego Zoo houses thousands of rare and endangered animals and exotic plants in its 100 acres. Whether you choose to stroll among the animal exhibits or take the Guided Bus Tour, you are bound to have a memorable visit. The San Diego Zoo is located just north of the downtown area in Balboa Park.

If viewing the animals in their natural habitat is more your thing, don’t miss a visit to the San Diego Wild Animal Park. Located 35 miles north of the downtown area and east of Escondido, this expansive wildlife sanctuary houses over 3,500 animals.

Spend the day with Shamu and friends at Sea World San Diego. Entrance to the park includes entertaining shows, exciting rides and plenty of animal encounters. Located just a few miles north of the downtown area in Mission Bay.

For the kid in you visit Legoland California. Over 50 rides, shows and attractions for the entire family. Located 25 miles north of San Diego in Carlsbad.

Nestled in the heart of San Diego, Old Town is home to the first permanent Spanish settlement in California. Original and reconstructed buildings help recreate the ambiance of 1800’s San Diego. Old Town is just a short walk from the San Diego Trolley Transit Center.

Balboa Park, one of the nation’s largest urban cultural parks is home to 15 museums, art venues, botanical gardens and the San Diego Zoo. Located just a few minutes from the downtown area, Balboa Park is reachable via a couple of Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) buses. As a public service, some park organizations offer free admission on Tuesdays, be sure to check out their schedule.
There are plenty of other attractions around the hotel area that are reachable by foot or via a short ride on the San Diego Trolley system. The County Administration/Little Italy station is located right next to the hotel.
